Fundraising

Thanks to the efforts of many of our club members the Northwest K9 Sniffers raised $3,395.00 for The Prodigious Fund in 2018.  Here is a picture of Jack Hodge accepting the club’s ‘big’ check.

Prodigious Fund Donation

Thanks to the awesome raffle items and generous support by our members at many events in 2018, the club was able to donate $4635.00 to the Prodigious Fund.  The Prodigious Fund’s mission is to recognize and support positive efforts made within the Thoroughbred aftercare community for the re-homing, promotion, and care of retired racehorses.  The Prodigious Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization making a huge difference in the live of many Thoroughbreds as they transition to their second careers.

ED Donation 2018

Accepting the club’s donation check is Jack Hodges, Vice President of Emerald Downs.  In recognition of the club’s fundraising efforts, on August 5th a horse race will be named the NW K9 Sniffers Purse.  Many club members will be attending the races on this day, so everyone is invited!

Old Dog Haven Fundraising

Way to go Sniffers!  Thanks to everyone who brought a raffle basket and bought tickets at the Holiday party.  Between the dollars raised at the party, direct donations made by club members and our matching program the Sniffers raised over $1,600.00 for Old Dog Haven.

2017 NACSW Invitationals

Two of our club members recently traveled to Massachusetts to participate in the 2017 NACSW Invitationals.  Vicky Lovejoy with her Aussie Kendra and Karen Dunlop and her GSD Uschi both were invited to this prestigious annual event.  Way to go to both of these Northwest K9 Sniffers’ members and their awesome pups on their great accomplishments!

Annual Fundraiser for Old Dog Haven

In keeping with the Sniffers belief in giving back to our community,we will be holding a RAFFLE to raise funds for Old Dog Haven in Lake Stevens at the Holiday Party on December 17th. You can find out more about this very deserving rescue organization on their main homepage at: http://olddoghaven.org.

Can’t attend the holiday party but want to contribute to the fundraiser? You can donate directly to Old Dog Haven using this link:
https://co.clickandpledge.com/sp/d1/default.aspx?wid=64969 The club will match the money raised up to $750, so if you donate directly to ODH, be sure to send a copy of your donation receipt to lupea81050@gmail.com so the club can match your donation. Last year we raised almost $600 through our fundraiser and matched that amount. Our goal this year is to raise $750!  Your generous support allows Old Dog Haven to continue their valuable rescue work they do for senior dogs in the Pacific Northwest.

The 3rd annual Northwest K9 Sniffers Holiday party/potluck is scheduled for Sunday, December 11th from 10:30 to 3:30 at the Sno-Valley Sr. Center in Carnation.  The Senior Center is pretty easy to find (one block of the main street in Carnation).  It is located at 4610 Stephens Ave, Carnation, 98014.  There is a dedicated parking lot at the Sr. Center and street parking in the nearby residential/business area. Please take care to obey any parking signs posted on nearby streets.  If you plan on attending we are going to have at least one sniffing game for the dogs.  We have lots of holiday themed container items for your pup to search and then select those items with birch, anise or clove!  Holiday costumes or X-mas head-wear for your dog are optional, but who can resist?  If we have time and weather permitting, we may also set up one nearby exterior search area.  We also plan on having ‘Santa’ available for a photo opportunity with ‘Mr. Claus’, you and your pup.

NW K9 Sniffers Scholarship

Thanks to the generous support of handlers and volunteers we raised over $2,000 (including the club’s matching program) at the Burien trials recently hosted by the club. $1500 of this money was directed to the Northwest K9 Sniffers 2016 PSSC Foundation scholarship. This scholarship was awarded by the Foundation to a graduating senior of the Culinary Arts program at the Puget Sound Skills Center and will be used by the student for continuing education expenses for her first year of college.
