Vice President of Emerald Downs Racetrack Jack Hodge accepts the club’s donation check of $15,880 to The Prodigious Fund.  The donation will be used to rescue, rehab and retrain retired WA bred racehorses.

We’re excited to announce that registration for the Northwest K9 Sniffers Nose Work Camp will open on Wednesday, August 6th – exclusively for NW K9 Sniffers members!

Draw Window: Wednesday August 6 to Sunday August 10

If more than 30 teams register, working spots will be assigned by random draw.

If working spots remain after August 10, registration will remain open until filled.

A waitlist will be created if needed.

Here’s what you need to know:

• Cost for a working spot: $850 – includes lodging and meals
• Auditing spot:  $400 – includes lodging and meals

Housing options:

• Bunkhouses – Shared rooms with 2 dog/handler teams per room
• RV spots – Electric/water/sewer hookups available (33 spaces available)

Once working spots are assigned, we will open registration for auditors (non-working participants who observe and engage in other camp activities).

Auditors may also share bunkhouse rooms (1–2 per room or RV camp).

The clubs Sept. 6/7 2025 NW2/L2E/L2C trials in North Bend will open on July 22nd at 9:00 a.m. Don’t forget to enter!

Thanks to all our club members and event participants we were able to provide a donation to The Prodigious Fund for over $15,000.  Accepting the club’s ‘big check’ donation is Emerald Down’s Vice President, Jack Hodge.  The money provided to the Fund will provide assistance for ex-racehorses as they start new careers in a variety of equestrian disciplines.

Thanks to all the hard work of our club membership we were able to raise $8,875 for the Prodigious Fund in calendar year 2022. When I delivered the ‘big check’ to Emerald Downs I learned that last year’s donation facilitated the rescue of four WA bred thoroughbred horses from around the country. After going through their quarantine period the horses were transferred back to WA state to received any needed veterinary care and retraining with the goal of finding them forever homes. Way to go Sniffers!  Shelly

The club donated our net proceeds ($6798) from our December 2021 trials at Emerald Downs Racetrack to The Prodigious Fund which provides veterinary care, rehabilitation and rehoming services to ‘Off the Track’ racehorses. Over the past years the club has donated in excess of $20,000 to this very worth charity. Stay tuned for more details about our December 2022 trials back at Emerald Downs.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our long time club board member, Cynthia Fry.  Cynthia was active in NoseWork with her white fluffly Couton, Kaili, from the very inception of the sport in the Pacific Northwest.  She attended the very first NW1 trial in our area which took place in the spring of 2011 in Vancouver, WA.  Cynthia titled that day with Kaili and continued on trialing with her many times.  Their bond was very special and despite Kaili’s size she was a dedicated and determined NoseWork dog.
